Jimmy's, An American Restaurant & Bar

There’s a spicy force on Aspen’s nightlife scene: Salsa Night at Jimmy’s, where Aspen’s Latino culture has a crowd of regulars partying way past midnight. Just as the dinner crowd begins to wind down, the tables are pulled back and the steamy, tropical beat of Afro-Latino rhythms begin to percolate through the room. As if choreographed by Tito Puente, crisply dressed pairs flock onto the dance floor to perform their seductively synchronized movements. It is a multicultural phenomenon that can rarely be witnessed anywhere else in this valley. Having taken tango and salsa dance lessons for more than a year, Jimmy was searching for an outlet for his newfound passion. “I was just looking for a place where my friends and I could dance.” The Saturday night gigs have fast become an Aspen institution, inhabited by true aficionados, devotees of the Latino musical genre, and curious wannabes who quickly fall prey to these additively sexy rhythms. Jimmy’s Salsa Night is the newest hot and spicy addition to Aspen’s late-night scene.

Tipsy Taxi

Anyone in Aspen--local or visitor--who has had too much to drink and has no other way to get back home or to their hotel can get a free ride. You can ask any bartender or peace officer in Aspen for a Tipsy Taxi voucher that will pay for your taxi. This life-saving gift from the community is available 24-hours a day every day of the year (since 1983). Local peace officers encourage everyone who chooses to drink to do so responsibly, but they realize that sometimes plans go awry. This is a last resort to avoid drunk driving. Do the right thing: Take a Tipsy Taxi.
