2nd Annual Fashion Event at Carbondale Recreation Center

A benefit for the Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities (CCAH), “The Green is the New Black Fashion Extravaganza” the Annual Fashion Event is to be held on the vernal equinox, March 20th, 2010, at the Carbondale Recreation Center.
Event Theme: “The Rites of Spring” honors the rites of spring and features fashion that sparks the imagination, created from recycled and sustainable materials. Designers and artists, locally and globally, along with Valley residents are welcome to showcase their original clothing design made from sustainable and/or recycled materials. Designs must be wearable, but not necessarily wearable for everyday.
Deadline for completion is March 5, 2010. Designers are encouraged to visit Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities or call at (970) 963-1680 for full entry guidelines.
CCAH will host a design workshop on Sunday, January 31st at The Third Street Center in Carbondale from 10am – 4pm. The workshop is a chance for designers and potential designers to come together to create their outfits. Glue guns, sewing machines and cast-off clothing will be available. Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials. Admission is free for CCAH members; a $20 donation will be asked for nonmembers.
