Anderson Ranch December Schedule

Attend this falls’ workshop at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Show your skills in painting/drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, woodworking/furniture design, photography. Specially introducing workshops on film studies and food and wine pairings.

Santa’s Workshop: building special toys for the little ones in your life
When: Saturday and Sunday, 10 am – 5 pm (with an hour break for lunch each day).
Skill Level: Open to all. Faculty: Jason Schneider. Tuition: $295, Studio Fee: $15.
This workshop focuses on designing and constructing a hand-crafted toy that will let someone special know just how much you love them. We will use a woodturning lathe, band saw, and shaping tools to construct an object of your choice

Simple Procedures to Succeed at Oil Painting
When: Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm (with an hour for lunch).
Skill Level: Open to all. Faculty: Paul Collins. Tuition: $295, Studio Fee: $30.
This workshop provides students with a thorough technical overview of oil painting where each one will be painting from their choice of still life, self portrait or projected photograph. Topics to be discussed include: color mixing, cheap versus expensive paint, palette maintenance, ventilation, solvent and medium explained, glazing, ground preparation and the taxonomy and care of brushes.

Digital Photo Book: Remembering 2009!
When: Saturday, from 10 am – 5 pm (with an hour break for lunch), and on Sunday, from 12 noon – 5 pm.
Skill Level: Students should have some experience digitally editing images and should come to class with digital files (jpgs) ready to layout into a book. Faculty: Andrea Wallace. Tuition: $295.
Learn how to optimize, edit and sequence images and photos, as well as the tips and tricks to create an attractive layout that rivals any professional design. Create your very own self-published photo book using free online software

Tastings: food and wine pairings with Anderson Ranch Chef David Stassi
When: December 12, Saturday from 1 – 5 pm.
Skill Level: Open to all. Tuition: $150.
Enjoy great food with the proper wine is an age old pleasure in the Ranch’s comfortable and well-equipped cafĂ©. Chef David Stassi will serve up samplings of red meat, poultry and seafood along with the proper wine pairing. Dessert wines will also be part of the discussion. Participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts and taste sensations with the group.

How to Watch Film with Colorado Public Radio’s film critic Howie Movshovitz
When: Saturday, December 12, 2009 – the first session meets from 4 to 5:30 pm.
Cost: $70 for one person or $125 for two people who sign up together.
Come join Howie Movshovitz and Anderson Ranch for an exciting and educational film experience where participants will be introduced to the visual aspects of film, often the most important-and overlooked-area of a movie. ‘Grand Illusion’ movie will begin at 7 pm.
