GHS Tips to Look and Feel Good in September
According to our consultant dietitian Lisa Post, RD, figs offer a sweet way to include more fiber in your diet. Dried figs can be enjoyed fresh or in prepared dishes. Here are a few ways to incorporate figs into your next meal:

  • Soak a handful of dried figs in balsamic vinegar for one hour. Drain, cut the figs in half and serve in a salad.
  • Soak a handful of dried figs in orange juice for one hour. Drain, dice the figs and mix in with your favorite rice.
  • Cut figs in half, drizzle a little honey on each half and top with crumbled pistachio nuts.

Lisa Wensley, an Eminence Organics Skin Care representative, suggests eating bright and colorful produce as part of your beauty routine. Greens, such as pears and green apples, calm inflammation in the skin; reds, including cranberries and pomegranates, aid circulation; purples are oxygen-rich and orange colors help repair sun damage.

Glenwood Hot Springs Hosts 28th Tri-Glenwood Triathlon
On Sept. 9, Glenwood Hot Springs will once again be the place where hundreds of athletes gather to compete in the annual Tri-Glenwood Triathlon. You may notice a slight dip in pool temperatures early in the day. We lower the water temperature in the big pool to 85 degrees Fahrenheit for the comfort of competitors. Once the event is over, we bring it back to the customary 90 – 93 degrees Fahrenheit range.

Final Session for Swim Lessons
It’s not too late for youngsters to learn to swim. The final session of swim lessons runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:45 PM – 6:30 PM, from Sept. 17 to Oct. 10. In addition to being less crowded, the cost is reduced as well at only $75. Sign up online today.
