4418E1BE-74E6-40DA-8A9E-B4DFD3C8D0D2 Jessica Stockholder will present a lecture at Anderson Ranch on her work, and the inspiration behind it, Thursday, August 23 at 12:30 pm in Schermer Meeting Hall. “Jessica Stockholder is a pioneer of installation art, and new forms of ‘painting’ with objects,” said Barbara Bloemink, Executive Director of Anderson Ranch.  “We are looking forward to her presentation as the final Featured Artists Lecture of the season.”

Ms. Stockholder is a sculptor and installation artist whose works challenge boundaries, blurring the distinction among painting, sculpture and environment, and even breaching gallery walls by extending beyond windows and doors.  She

studied at the University of Victoria in Victoria, Canada, and received an M.F.A. from Yale University. Ms. Stockholder’s works are often named after literary or theatrical works, and she is seen as having influenced a generation of artists.

Formerly the director and professor of graduate studies in sculpture at Yale University she now heads the art department at the University of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited at Dia Center for the Arts, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; PS1, New York; SITE Santa Fe; the Venice Biennale; Kunstmuseum St. Gallen; and Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.

The FEATURED ARTISTS LECTURE SERIES is free and open to the public; reservations are required. To reserve seats email info@andersonranch.org or call
