Looking for a good time in Aspen and Snowmass during the holidays? We have a rundown on family activities, restaurant menus, and area events throughout the entire Roaring Fork Valley. Check back often as we update the calendar.

Family Fun:

New Years Eve for the Kids – Parents can enjoy a night on the town while the kids whoop it up at the Aspen Recreation Center. This years New Year’s Eve Party and Childcare is for children 6 years old and up, December 31st from 6pm to 1am. Details

Holiday Public Skating Sessions on Wednesday, December 31 at 3:30 – City of Aspen, Parks & Recreation. Session open on December 29 and January 2, for schedule Details

Winter Explorers – Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, Monday, December 29 and 30th, Ages 7 to 11 year olds. Children will have the chance to discover the winter world first-hand at the Hallam Lake nature preserve. They will examine animal tracks, build a snow cave, make winter art, and learn winter survival techniques in order to investigate how the natural world copes with this harsh season. Program Details

Winter Ranchers – December 29, 30, 31, Ages 1st – 4th grade: Rock Bottom Ranch – Step into the life of a rancher and naturalist during the winter for one, two, or all three days. Each day promises something new& We’ll begin each morning by feeding the critters in our farmyard. Next, we’ll play games, learn how to churn butter and spin wool, explore for tracks in the wildlife preserve, or build a snowman (snowrancher) and snow cave. Program Details

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park – Head to Glenwood Springs for holiday fun, Colorado-style. Start with a scenic ride on the Iron Mountain Tramway and enjoy panoramic views of snow-capped mountains. At the top, take a guided tour of Glenwood Caverns & Historic Fairy Caves — which are always a comfortable 52 degrees inside — and a ride on the Canyon Flyer, Colorado’s only alpine coaster. Next, make your way to the Lookout Grille for a cozy lunch by the fire, including soups served in bread bowls, salads and daily specials. The Park will be open daily 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. from Dec. 18 through Jan. 4 – Details and Directions

Restaurant Menus:

Wienerstube Restaurant in Aspen – The Wienerstube Restaurant, is an Aspen dining landmark, established in 1965 and running as one of the few “must visit” Aspen establishments ever since. The New Years Menu served at a special 9pm seating includes Wiener Schnitzel, Beef Filet “Wellington” and Bouillabaisse. Social Restaurant in Aspen – Discover Social Restaurant, located on Hopkins Avenues’ restaurant row. Social offers a presentation of global tapas and small plates. The New Years Eve menu includes hamachi, ahi, oysters, waygu skirt steak and kobe A5 brisket. There are two seatings, 6pm and 9pm. Menu | Reservations

Elevation Restaurant in Aspen – Located on Hopkins in Aspen, Elevation is Aspen’s modern American Bistro and a local favorite for over seven years. The New Years Eve menu offers an elegant 3 course dinner that includes Roasted monkfish with lobster risotto or Colorado rack of lamb s the centerpiece. Two seatings, 6pm and 9pm. Montagna Restaurant in Aspen – Overlooking the courtyard and facing the natural beauty of Aspen Mountain you will find Montagna, The Little Nell’s understated yet elegant home to full-flavored delights courtesy of Executive Chef Ryan Hardy. The New Years Eve menu includes Pomegranate glazed Rack of Colorado Lamb, Whole Roasted Beef Filet ‘Châteaubriand’ and Crispy Skin Dover Sole. Two Seatings only. Menu | Reservations

The Caribou Club in Aspen – Caribou cuisine is what you want to eat most nights: well seasoned and simple. The top-notch Caribou kitchen serves modern American cuisine with just the right amount of international zing. On New Years the Caribou menu offers a five course “Grand Tasting” that features Kobe Tenderloin Terrine and a Vegetarian Tasting that includes a Grilled Matsutake Mushroom Terrine. DishAspen in Aspen – Influenced by old and new favorites, the DishAspen Restaurant delivers their unique interpretation of the classics. New Years Eve:

Snowmass New Years Celebrations – Ring in 2008 in style! From gourmet feasts at local restaurants to rockin’ live music and dancing into the wee hours, Snowmass celebrations abound, including epicurean evenings at The Artisan and Sage restaurants, the Silvertree Hotel’s 19th annual New Year’s eve gala celebration, and hot parties at local hot spots such as Mountain Dragon, Zane’s Tavern, and the new restaurants of base village.

Snowmass – The Silvertree Hotel hosts its 19th Annual New Year’s Eve Celebration with a gourmet dinner, music, dancing, a balloon drop and a special simultaneous children’s party for the little ones.     We are throwing a fantastic party for New Year’s Eve at The St. Regis in Aspen. The entertainment is a band called Ruby Go Go….incredible breakout R&B act of the year. Can you add our event to your schedule. The website to buy tickets is http://www.lesdamesfete.com.
